Featured "In Danger" Artist: Naomi Baker

Naomi Baker can’t describe her art in one sentence, but that is her goal someday. A concept artist who has done work for Activision, Blur, Wizards of the Coast, ArenaNet, and is currently a Senior concept artist at Suckerpunch Productions. Her favorite mediums are charcoal pencil and Photoshop and she says she admires artists that can capture a lot in a few strokes. Naomi got started in art by copying Marvel characters in 90s comics and is fond of drawing characters and figures.

Growing up in rural Virginia and living in Washington as an adult has made Naomi close to nature. She says that nature contains a sort of rawness and a deep vulnerability that transcends the specifics of a person’s beliefs. She hopes she can bring that rawness to her art.

Here are Naomi’s great contributions to In Danger:

“Dugong“

“I picked the dugong because they are adorable and herbivorous gentle sea elephants that, similar to humans, live long lives and do not have many children during their lifespan.” - Naomi Baker

“Yellow-faced Bee”

“The yellow-faced bee unfortunately looks like a wasp, which are already quite scary. For this, they get overlooked in a world where bees as a whole are not doing so well, despite their enormous roll in the pollination that leads to successful food production.” - Naomi Baker
